About Me

Although I was born in the  midlands I'm from a family whose history connects strongly with the North East and the Yorkshire coast. Sea faring connections and a presence of coastal history run through my family. I studied a BA in art and design at Bradford Art College in 1995 but the lure of the coast proved too much and I moved to Brighton in 1998.Since then I have exhibited my work throughout the UK and regularly take part in the Brighton Festival Artists' open house event.I  went on to gain an MA in Fine Art  in 2003 and I continue to work at the University of Brighton as a tutor  teaching visual research to art degree students. Drawing is a vital element of my own work and my teaching. My work is a response to my immediate surroundings of the Sussex coastal landscape and travels around the British coastline. The coast offers a constantly shifting source of inspiration.
